Swiss tell naked German ramblers to take a hike
Dietmar, a German lawyer, said he was sad to hear of the Swiss changes. “We simply try to tune into nature,” he said. “It’s the most harmless pursuit possible.” Appenzell Innerrhoden is known for its beautiful landscape. Last year an internet campaign by a lobby group of hikers declared it to be a “naked rambler paradise”, prompting a rush of visitors. “We have been receiving many complaints,” Markus Dörig, a spokesman for the government of the Appenzell Innerrhoden canton, told The Times. “The local people are upset and we in the government share their concern. How would one feel if one was to go walking in nature and suddenly came across a group of naked people?”
